The massage therapist bought me a new toy. It's called Zoom Stuffers and it's from Fat Cat Inc. and of course, it involves Zoom Around the Room (TM) Hi-test organic catnip. It's also an interactive toy/game that you play with the human.

It works like this:

The toy looks like a bunny rabbit or a kitty cat or a mouse and it has pants on. (I don't wear pants, but the massage therapist does, so I know what they are.) It also comes with little tea bags full of Zoom Around the Room (TM) Hi-test organic catnip. You get two with each toy.

The human takes the tea bag, folds it over and stuffs it down the pants on the toy.

Now comes the fun part. The human then gives you the toy, and you need to fish the catnip teabag out from the toy's pants. Then you can rip it open and face plant yourself into the catnip. Or roll in it. Or zoom it round the room. Or eat it. Or whatever you like to do with catnip.

I think I am a champion at this game because it took me less than five minutes to get the catnip bag out of the toys pants and tear it open and spread it all over the floor.

The massage therapist did not seem really happy with this, for some reason.

I think she is just being a sour puss because she didn't win the game.

I am very sorry about getting off to late start with this, but I was sicking up all day yesterday and the massage therapist was not in much better shape. Seems it was only an upset tummy on my part though as I ate like a starving mancat this morning and have not sicked up once yet today!

So tell me about your 4th of July celebration! I'm a very patriotic cat as you can see. Have my own Uncle Sam's hat and all. I am however not going out until way after midnight when all the noise from the fireworks dies down. I do not like those things, no way.

As I mentioned during weekend cat blogging yesterday, I had a surprise visitor at the house. He is a Mancat Tabby like and myself, and much like me, he has a very long tail.

In fact, his tail is even longer than mine, as he as 15 inches worth of tail!

His name is Tailchaser and not only does he have a LONG tail, but he is filled with Zoom Around The Room (tm) Organic Catnip!

First I get a good sniff of him and then I put the bitey on him:

Then I give him a good shake.

Next I whap him around a bit. Whapping is permissible among Mancat furriends, but you should not try it with your Demon Cat sis-fur.

I gotcha Mr. Tailchaser! You're not going anywhere!

Now things get interesting as I decide not just to put the bitey on him, but to bunny kick him too!

Because he is so long, you can really get a good hold of him for Bunny Kicking purposes!

I really enjoyed getting into a tussle with Mr. Tailchaser, and he seemed to enjoy it too!

Oh no! Now he's put the bitey on me!

Take THAT Mr. Tailchaser!

After all this play, it was time to curl up together and take a nap.

Mr. Tailchaser spent the night and we got into another good bitey and bunny kicking session this morning already. He is a great mancat furriend to have around, and I'm really glad he came to visit, as I'm not allowed to bitey or bunnykick the Demon Cat.

Mr. Tailchaser came from the Greenwall Shelter in case you'd like to adopt one as well. He is definately a four paw up cat toy!

Weekend Cat Blogging #208

Contrary to popular belief, I did not spend the day napping, no I did not. I had a friend come and pay me a visit. However, it was a man cat sort of thing, so you'll have to wait until tomorrow for Mancat Monday.

We start out with post on Meaningful Words from Confucius Cat. I know a meaningful word. It is "Meow" usually used in the phrase "Tristan Meow?" and it means it's DINNER TIME!

Sam Black and Mr. Tigger actually got their post in early...maybe that dog thing is good for them? Just as long has he doesn't take up all the sunny spots in the Window Views.

Hey dogs are allowed in the furniture in that house? What's up with that?

Vincent takes over at Judi's Mind Over Matter to teach a little bit of Yoga.

Over at The Mind of Mog, CeeCee and Meowza spend some quality time together...happily there are no kissy pictures.

Speaking of "Tristan Meow" there's something to be said about a blog called Rosa's Yummy Yums. I need a blog called Tristan's Yummy Yums. Over at Rosa's though, we get some Yummy Yum pictures of one of my fellow tabbies.

Willie checks in to write about his favorite passion. It seems he is a Writer at Heart. It's good that we've got computers now so that he can follow his passion instead of trying to hold a pencil with his paws.

More handsome Tabby Cuisine over at Cuisine Guylaine. Nope, sorry, not even those sunsets can match the magnificent coat we Tigers in the Grass. It's true!

Vampy Victor has a bit of a movie for us, as he educates us on Cupboard Phantoms. Believe me Bud, I'm the only Cupboard Phantom in this house. The Demon Cat is the Phantom of the Coffee Table.

And that about does it for weekend cat blogging. Not a really big turnout! I'll have to advertise more strenuously when Weekend Cat Blogging returns here for Independent Cat Day and RED, WHITE, and BOOM!

Meanwhile, it's the Demon Cat's turn for "Meow" so I'm going to go and check if I can cop me some left overs. Chow babies! (That's what it's all about!)

I do not have anything to do with the blue screen of deadedness coming to visit, BTW. It happen after bean attach chippy thing to USB port. So tabby brofur probably break USB port while he surfing the net for Kitty Porn.

A story from the American Humane Society...

Khan, an 8-year-old German shepherd mix, was a beloved pet. But sadly, he was also becoming a heavy financial burden. Khan’s caretaker, a single mother of two, had lost her home to foreclosure. She was forced to move in with a relative, who could not accommodate Khan.

In addition, Khan was suffering from a severe and extremely painful ear infection. Barely able to afford the basics for her children, Khan’s caretaker could not provide the costly surgery that Khan needed.

Tragically, many people facing foreclosures are abandoning their pets, leaving them to suffer in deserted homes and yards.

Khan’s caretaker, however, was intent on finding a more humane solution. With nowhere else to turn, she contacted her local shelter. It was her hope that Khan might receive medical treatment and be placed in a new, loving home.

But the friendly shepherd’s future was still uncertain. Most animal shelters operate on shoestring budgets, and in today’s tough economy they are struggling to help all of the pets that come through their doors.

The American Humane Society has a program called Foreclosure Pets Grants that are awarded to shelters seeking to help the animal victims of foreclosure.

Through American Humane’s Foreclosure Pets Grants, Khan received the surgery he so desperately needed. He was recently adopted by a kind couple that lavishes him with love and attention.

I was fortunate enough to find a new home (even if I do have to take a pill). Not ever victim of foreclosure is.

Then when she going to go day hunting he meowling outside the door so she say "Mein or Meout?" He reply, fury definately, "Meout!"

So she leave him out.

So now she gone day hunting and he shrieking at the door "Mein! Mein!"

Mancats! Can't live with 'em. Can't leave em by the side of the road when you through with them.

If they can put one Mancat one the moon, why not all of them?

"You are putting me and the cat carrier and my red and sore bum in the car," I meowl. "And this is not making me any happier!"
"OMG! You are driving me in the cat carrier in the car with my red and sore bum and I HATE moving vehicles," I Meowl, and meowl, and meowl, and meowl, and MEROW, and RROOWWWW (and on and so forth for the next five miles.)
"The Car is smoking badly and is about to catch on fire with me in an inescapable cat carrier with a red and sore bum and I'm travel sick and this is NOT making me happy," I scream at the top of my voice!
"Oh, thank Bast! Oh, thank Bast! Get me out of this cat carrier," I meowl. "The car has stopped moving."

(Oh no, you have put me with my red and sore bum in the inescapable cat carrier in a waiting room full of dogs. And I'm not going to moewl, no I'm not, because they will eat me!)
(Oh hai. That lady just called me handsome. Maybe this isn't all bad.)
"Oh no! Oh no! The cat carrier is in flight again!" I moewl. "Where are you taking me!"
(Oh no. I know this place and I'm not going to moewl. As it's the VET'S office and I don't want to call attention to myself.)
(Oh no. The lady vet has just walked into the room. Maybe if I scrunch up against the side of his cat carrier, she won't notice me and my red and sore bum.)

How come everyone keeps asking if my name is "Budweiser"?

(Oh, great. Thank you. Grabbed by the scruff of the neck and dragged from the carrier against my will by the massage therapist.)
(Traitor! I thought you liked me!)

The rules say that I have to list six things that make me happy, so here goes:

1. Singing. I love to sing. I sing for any and all reasons. I sing to my food, to my water dish, even to the prey I bring home. If I'm in the house, I sing to go out, if I'm out of the house, I sing to come in. It was this vocal ability that lead to my choice of careers as a Rock Singer.
2. Football. I love all sports, but I'm very fond of football. I even have my own little cat sized football so that I can kick some around with the boys.
3. Catnip. Especially Zoom around the Room catnip. All doses are the best, but face planting yourself into a bag of Zoom around the Room Catnip just can't be beat!
4. Hiding under the sink. For some reason, the massage therapist doesn't like me to hide there, but the Demon Cat never bothers me while I hide there, so I can say it quite makes me happy.
5. Treats. Specifically Party Mix as I'm a Paw-ty sort of fellow! But any treats are good, although I'm not all that thrilled with the Pounce treats the Massage Therapist brought home.
6. T'Abby Normal. I love my special lady cat, yes I do. A comment from her always makes my day!

Now I must pass this award on to six other Kreativ type Cats and so I'd like to give it to:

1. T'Abby Normal. After all, her mom does some wonderful drawings that she shares with us. She's also a very Kreativ young lady cat herself!
2. MISHA. I do like his blog. And the contests he comes up with.

Not that I was feeling guilty or anything because I had nothing to do with it, but I wanted to get the Massage Therapist something nice to make up for the plate being broken by Notme.

This one was much bigger than the one I had on Sunday night. It was also substantially less lively.

They're really not much fun once they stop running around anyway.

But, you know, she shares her hunts with me every day, so it's only fair that I should chip in with something now and again.

And I am nothing if not a thoughtful and courteous Mancat!

I could tell she really liked the pressie, as she patted me and called me a good Mancat! Yup, I'm a good boy!

Oh man, that's harsh. We were just looking at the Links section of the Cat Blogosphere, and I STILL haven't got my blog listed. Nor is my gotcha day listed. I know we requested one. The Demon Cat wrote on my behalf asking it be added. She even showed me the e-mail.

But nope. Nothing.

However, Bella's got her blog listed, and Eric and Flynn got their new blog listed.

But Sir Tristan Tabby Cat Longtail?

Why the heck should he need a link?

Right?

On top of that I STILL don't have a badge for the MCat's Club. And while they've got me linked on their site, they have me listed as "Tristian".

Just who is this Tristian, Mr. Tibber? That's that I want to know.

I have no idea why you guys hate me so much. I even host Weekend Cat Blogging for you but I guess that doesn't count for anything?

Fine. Nobody likes me, everybody hates me. I'd go eat some worms but I'm in the house and the massage therapist isn't here to open the door. Maybe when she comes home I'll go to that.

Tabby of Terror Tuesday

I had to look this word up to see what it meant.

klutz [kluhts] –noun Slang.

1. a clumsy, awkward person.
2. a stupid or foolish person; blockhead.

This is what the massage therapist called me after the bottle of bug spray fell off the top of the bookcase. Yes, I was on the top of the bookcase at the the time, but I had nothing to do with the bug spray falling off. It did it of its own accord, although I suspect gravity helped a little bit.

I mean, really...how can you apply this word to me? I'm a graceful Mancat. Just because things happen to fall when I'm around should not in any way smudge my image of being a graceful Mancat.

She claims that I - I! - have knocked more things over in the first three months of my living there than the Demon Cat has in the first three years.

I'd like a recount, please, as I'm sure there is absolutely no documentation to validate this claim.

She's even threatened to hang this sign on the door to warn people that I'm about:

I mean, seriously, how rude can you be?

It's like I get blamed for everything. I mean...maybe the Demon Cat made the bug spray fall off the bookshelf. I know, she was on the bed at the time, but she could have some special power of falling objects that I don't know about.

And all the books that were on the floor the other day...I mean...what makes you think I was trying to scale the bookshelf? Couldn't it have been the Demon Cat. I mean...she wasn't here. The Demon Cat COULD have come back in the house, scaled the bookshelf and then gone back outside without the massage therapist knowing about it. Perhaps she has a special power of walks through walls or know how to open the door by herself. How do I know.

And let's face it, if there is a klutz in this household, it's the massage therapist herself. She certainly doesn't need any sort of help - from either the Demon Cat or myself - to trip over her own two feet and take a tumble.

That being said, I feel that if we're going to hang signs in the house to warn people, it should be this one:

Mancat Monday - Prey!

"Look what I have! Oh look what I have!" I meowl happily at the door. I have to say, the massage therapist was quite surprised that I could meowl so loudly with my mouth full.

She thought I had a lizard.

And she was quite surprised to find I had something substantially larger than a lizard. Although, I guess by Demon Cat standards, this one was pretty small. It was also still pretty lively.

"No, Mrs. Ratty, I am quite certain the Massage Therapist does not want you in the house. and let's be honest, I want you someplace entirely differently too."

I think I shall have some Ratatouille for a late night snack!

Judi's thinking that Mind over Matter can help her in the herding of cats. I think her crew has other plans.

Mommacat's away but that's okay because Freya's got DaBird to keep her company. And it looks like serious fun. I'm gonna have to get the Massage Therapist to get me one of those!

Weekend Cat Blogging - Victims? or Animals?

Oh Hai! I was just watching a video on Lucky, the puppy that was thrown from a car window in Arizona. Thanks to Anthem Pets, Lucky has made a complete recovery!

However, Lucky is just one victim of the current economic crisis. An editorial written on the ABC15.com says that "animal rescue groups across the Valley say they are seeing more and more cases of neglect and even abuse of animals, as people lose homes, jobs, and have trouble making ends meet."

I am a foreclosed cat - I was just dumped when the people that adopted me as a kitten just left. I'm not sure what they did with the dogs, but me - a cat - I was disposable.

"What goes through the mind of someone walking out of their foreclosed home and leaving a dog tied up in the backyard?" Irvin writes in his editorial. "What is a person thinking when they toss an animal out of the window of a moving car?"

Yeah, what were you thinking when you left me to fend for myself?

I was just property, I guess. Disposable property. They didn't see me as a living, thinking being. I was just a cat.

The massage therapist is different. She knows I'm intelligent and allows me to make my own choices. She takes care of me. And she would never dump me.

Irvin goes on to write "I believe the misfortunes of many of these people are largely of their own doing. They are the kind of people who likely took on mortgages they didn't read, lived in houses they couldn't afford, or lived beyond their means until the credit cards maxed out. When the dust settled and the bank showed up to take it all back, they simply bailed, blaming everyone else for the crisis of their own making.

"These people are not victims of the economic crisis. They are, in fact, one of the main causes of it. They do not deserve our sympathy nor our excuses. In fact, they are the real animals."

Do you see this? Look closely...

The Demon Cat suffers from litter box tail. This is because she sits in the litter box. Really. She sits on her bum in the litter box so she can dig. She likes to dig.

What's really bad is that she doesn't see this for the social affliction that it is. In fact, she actually LEAVES THE HOUSE with litter attached to her bum!

But then, when you hold the whole neighborhood hostage, trembling in fear, I guess it doesn't really matter if you have litter attached to your tail or not.

Of course, being the immaculately groomed Mancat that I am, you'd never catch me with litter on my tail or dirt on my paws.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I must go hide in the cupboard before she gets wind of this post!

ManCat Monday - A Really BAD Dog!

Since I am a really GOOD ManCat, the Massage Therapist bought me a Really BAD Dog!

This little bad boy is stuffed with Zoom Around the Room(tm) Catnip. Even better, should my Zoom Around the Room(tm) catnip loose it's potency after I've had the toy for a while - and assuming I haven't chewed it to bits, it can be refilled with MORE Zoom Around the Room(tm) catnip.

I way put the bitey on this bad boy and when I was done, he was quite covered with my Mancat spit! The Really BAD Dog was downright soggy even, by the time I got done!

Here I am getting down with the BAD Dog. The Massage Therapist had gone hunting to a different super hunting ground than the one she usually goes to, and found a wider variety of treats, plus these really great Zoom Around the Room(tm) catnip filled toys.

Take THAT you Really BAD Dog!

As you can tell, I was quite the relaxed and happy Mancat after my therapy session with the Really BAD Dog!

Wacky Weed Wednesday

Well, as you know, or maybe you didn't, Purresident Obama flew in to Fort Myers yesterday for a special meeting with me about his stimulus package. He wanted to know what my thoughts were on helping get the American Economy back on track.

He came to the right cat, let me tell you! Because I had the purrfect suggestion for him.

I believe that every cat in America today should be given a FREE bag of Zoom Around the Room(tm) Catnip. "How will this help the economy?" you ask.

Easy, first, growing all that high grade organic catnip will provide lots of jobs down on the farm, not to mention all of the humans that will have to be employed to harvest the nip, and to see it ground into just the right texture. Then of course, some cats will have to be hired for quality control, as humans certainly can't test the stuff. So if the humans are out of work, at least they'll have a salary coming in from their feline nip tester.

(Note: I think I'd be an excellent nip tester and I should be the first cat hired for this position.)

And then finally, of course, you'd have to employ hundreds or thousands of humans to deliver the nip to all the cats all over America.

So there you have it. Economic stimulus - not to mention all the stimulus that all that catnip will provide to America's cats.

Yes, I'm sure glad the Purresident decided to come and meet with me about his economic recovery package. After our meeting, he gave a speech the humans at the Harborside convention center, then hopped aboard his jet and took off the next stop on his stimulus tour.

In the meantime, he assures me that he will be giving serious consideration to my suggestion to fix the American Economy!

Well friends it's time for Weekend Cat Blogging as we broadcast direct to you from Little Raymond James Stadium South as the mighty Pittsburgh Steelers get set to take on the underdog Arizona Cardinals, right here, live and in person on the big err...regular sized screen TV.

We've got some Pittsburgh fans over at Life from A Cat's Perspective, where it looks like Mr. Tigger has already punted Samantha Black for a field goal!

Undeclared for the big event is the crew at Finding Sirius who are in search of the Soul Cat this weekend.

Judi at Mind over Matter is also pulling for the Black and Gold, and in fact, it looks like Jules is all set for the kick off!

Not everyone is as hyped about the game though. It seems that Scrappycat over at Sidewalk Shoes doesn't even know who's playing!

Over at CatSynth, Luna is more relieved that the final round of construction at Cat Synth headquarters is almost completed and things are ALMOST back to normal.

Well cats and kittens (and humans too) it's a Superbowl Weekend here at Tabbylicious. Thanks also for joining us for Weekend Cat Blogging.

Sadly, Van Meowlin' was not booked to play the halftime show at the big game - and all I can say is they don't know what they're missing - so me and the band is gonna be chillaxin' here at the ol' Hacienda, where we'll be holding our own Big Game BarBQue complete with Real Live Dead Shrimp on the Barbie. Yup, we do know how to do things up right.

While I can't say I'm a big fan of either team that will be playing at Raymond James Stadium, I do have to choose the Cards because frankly, we've been informed by the massage therapist that no one in this household is allowed to be a Steelers fan. So I guess we'll be cheering for a bunch of birds.

A Mancat realizes that there are times when an angelic expression may be the only thing that saves him after he has sown chaos through out the household.

Although...well...I think what saved me this time is that the massage therapist was more concerned that I'd injured myself than anything else. See...I'd come in the house looking for food but the Demon Cat was guarding the station of free-flowing crunch goodness. So I thought maybe if I climbed on top of the white curio cabinet that could go the overland route to get at the food.

How as I to know what the cabinet was not anchored securely to the shelf it was sitting on and would fall down on my head?

And yes, I've very sorry I broke your glass manatee thingy but honestly...I didn't mean to.

It was all the demon cat's fault. I'm really a very good kitty-cat except when she gets me into trouble!

On another note, while I do not yet have a M-Cats Club badge, I do, mon Cheri, have a blinkie! Which is like a hundred times more cooler!

And I didn't have to fill out the numerous forms and send endless pictures like I've had to do with the MCats Club. One request and $2.50 was all it took!

Sleeping with the enemy

Well, the Paparazzi has been at it again and this time, my reputation will be quite damaged. This picture, which is set to post in this week's Nation Enquirer is real and un-retouched:

I am indeed sleeping on the bed, not a cat length from the Demon Cat. In fact we're nearly close enough that I could touch her if I just put my paw out.

And yes, I know she doesn't look very demonic in this picture but believe me, it was a fluke! We did have a boxing match in the hallway this weekend and she did whap at me during treat time - she always does.

As a result, I was out all of last night - and even got into a cat fight! But but none of my fans are going to believe all the suffering I've gone through when these photos come to light. I'm ruined - totally and completely ruined!

Paparazzi has been a theme all this week over at Tabbylicious. The bothered my beauty rest on Mancat Monday. Tuesday was Tabby TV time and I showed you some great work out routines as we got physical.

The paparazzi were all busy at the inauguration on Tuesday, so I did get some peace and quiet. But poor Mz. Franklin. Believe me, I can sympathize with those embarrassing photos.

And of course on Thursday, the whole freaking Mancat Discovery Channel was in here. So what's a fellow to do, but hide under the bed for the next two days!

The word paparazzi is an eponym originating in the 1960 film La dolce vita directed by Federico Fellini. One of the characters in the film is a news photographer named Paparazzo (played by Walter Santesso). In his book Word and Phrase Origins, Robert Hendrickson writes that Fellini took the name from an Italian dialect that describes a particularly annoying noise, that of a buzzing mosquito. In his school days, Fellini remembered a boy who was nicknamed "Paparazzo" (Mosquito), because of his fast talking and constant blurs, a name Fellini later applied to the fictional character in La dolce vita.

Anyway, now I have to do something about damage control. Wouldn't want anyone to think this sort of thing happens every day around here!

Staying in shape is important for any cat, but as a rock star I definately have to take care of myself. Happily, I get to go outside so I can get a great workout on the HUGE cat gym in the back yard. However, some cats are not so lucky.

If you are stuck inside, you can always resort to the good ol' treadmill to get a work out:

If all that walking and running isn't for you, perhaps you should consider aerobic dancing. This is a great work out for all the lady cats!

Mah Nu Bed...

Last weekend we had the Night of the Wild Hogs again, but this weekend is the Cape Coral Art Festival, which is even worse. You still have those same crazy hogs howling through the streets, but the place is also packed with snowbirds. It's insane.

And it's not about buying art mind you. The whole idea behind the Cape Coral Art Festival for the fashionable - dogs and humans - to see and be seen. we felines of course do not feel such a need. Of course, the Demon Cat thinks if the massage therapist is going then she should go as well, she has this strange notion about equality between dogs and cats and that cats should be allowed to go anyplace dogs can go.

It's a moot point though as the massage therapist is being unfashionable and staying home. Hah!

So what's been fashionable around Tabbylicious, you might wonder. And well you might.

On Mancat Monday I showed you my new sleeping spot on top of the bookcase. That was fashionable until this weekend, now I'm sleeping on the sofa. I don't know...now that I won the battle of the bookcase, it just seems to have lost it's appeal.

Tuesday we took a look at one of my favorite Superbowl commercials on Tabby TV. The Superbowl is Sunday, February 1st, right around the corner from here in Tampa. Checking the ticket prices on line, and you can get corner endzone seats, upper level, row Y & Z for around $1,800. Oxygen not included. I think I'll just stay home on the sofa and watch it on the tube. That way I can see close ups of the cheerleaders.

Wednesday and Thursday I was kind of in a rut, as all I did was party all night and sleep all day. It's a tough life, but somebody needs to live it.

Friday we had a look at the most fashionable, and unusual, names for our fellow felines in What's in a name? Yeah, I can agree with my lovely Miss Abby - her name should have made the Top 10. Look at how many Abbies we've got on the Cat Blog0sphere.

Well...that's it for now. If these friggin' motorized birds would stop flying over head and waking me up, I might be able to manage a cat nap before dinnertime!

Veterinary Pet Insurance compiled a list of the most popular names for dogs and cats in 2008 from its database of 466,000 pets and found the most unusual names while they were at it.

"People" names were the most popular, with Max coming in first for both cats and dogs and Bella, Lucy, and Chloe making both top 10 lists. But some people clearly prefer more creativity in their pet names, judging from the unusual names Edward Scissorpaws, Sir Lix-a-lot, Snoop Kitty Kitty, and Admiral Toot.

Well friends, it's time for our first round up of 2009. My how the time does fly.

We started out last Sunday with a round up of a different kind, as I hosted my first Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos. No fear, it will not be my last! However, in the more immediate future, I'll be hosting more Weekend Cat Blogging, with my next one scheduled for Jan 31st-February 1st, so be sure to join me for that.

Next I showed you what a bad Mancat I've continued to be on Mancat Monday. Yes ladies, I'm b-a-a-a-a-a-d to the bone!

On Tuesday we watched one of the top Videos of 2008 on Tabby TV. It's a good one too, so be sure to check it out if you've not done so already.

On New Year's Eve I showed you the correct way to do a face plant into a pile of Zoom around the Room(tm) Catnip. It is definitely a Wacky Weed Wednesday when I've got my paws on that stuff! It's like kitty crack, believe you, me.

You'll be pleased to know I staying in the house for New Years night - all those fireworks make me nervous. But me and my buds made up for it on Thursday as we took off to enjoy the lovely lady-cats a the Playcats' Club. I stayed out all day and all night too, and so I missed my Thursday post. Bad boy? Didn't I just tell you've b-a-a-a-a-a-d to the bone?

I mean, if I wasn't, why else would the Massage Therapist call me "The Tabby of Terror"?

Friday we looked as the Top 10 New Years Resolutions for felines and determined that I don't need to resolve any of them. In fact, I think I'll resolve to have even MORE fun in 2009!

I know...one of the more puzzling questions is "Why do you do these round ups if we read your blog regularly?" Well, it's because I cross post this to the Demon Cat's Xanga site, and not everyone there does read my blog regularly. Besides, I send it back to the Davis' who used to take care of me, so that they know I'm doing alright. Yes, I may be a fleabag, but I'm a conscientious and caring fleabag.

Questions that Puzzle Cats

Why do humans try to hide my carrier when its time to go to the vets, we know what they are doing duh!-,and where we are going.

Why do these people keep talking to me? They know I can't answer them.

What is it with the showers and baths? Why can't they just lick themselves clean?

Why do people feel the need to change their fur every day (and sometimes more often than once a day)?

Come to that, why the removable fur? Can't they just grow a half- decent pelt?

Why do humans insist on using my nice big porcelain water bowl for their unspeakable bad habits?

For indoor cats: Why do people go in and out of the big screen TV (the outdoors), and why can't I?

For outdoor cats: Why are those cats imprisoned (indoors) and what do they do for fun in there?

Why do some cans contain cat food or tuna, and others contain green beans. (And can I try some of those green beans?)

How come when I try to show how much I love being stroked and hugged they don't like my butt in their face?

Why can't I have that tuna sandwich, you know it's my favorite!

When I come to the glass patio door, with a bird in my mouth, why can't he hear me or see me, to let me in the house, so that I can eat in safety and comfort?

"What is the deal with closed doors / cupboards?"

How come you don't like the dead mouse I bring to your feet?

"Why do humans sleep at night? This is the best time to be awake!

How come you can have babies and I can't?

Why can't I sit on the counter - you do?

Why do you keep putting my food in a dish because I then have to dump the dish to get it on the floor where I want it?

Do they truly not understand that this is my house?

And why did the Creator give them opposable thumbs, but not us?

Why do humans have to rub our tummies?

Top 10 New Years Resolutions

We get this newsletter for cats, and they listed the top 10 resolutions for 2009. It was kind of interesting:

Resolution #1: I promise to trim down a little.

The Demon Cat could use some trimming down. I've gained a little weight since I came to live here, but I was underweight at the time, so now up to where I should be. I don't need to lose any.

Resolution #2: I'll be friendlier to strangers.

I'm really very friendly. Don't need any work on that end either.

Resolution #3: I'll be cuddlier to family members.

I would be, but the demon cat gets mad if I spend too much time with the massage therapist. And she's not really happy with me after I knocked everything off her nightstand yesterday anyway.

Resolution #4: I'll be nicer to the birds and fish in household.

We don't have any of these, so no problem keeping this resolution!

Resolution #5: I won't be as finicky about my food.

Trust me, I'm not finicky about food. At all!

Resolution #6: I'll lay off the furniture and stick to my scratching post.

Now that I'm allowed out, I use one of the wooden posts outside. It's better than the furniture.

Resolution #7: I'll stop hiding stuff behind the couch.

I don't do this. Anything hidden behind the couch is there because the demon cat put it there.

Resolution #8: I'll let everyone else sleep later.

Don't look at me. I cat around all night, so I'm more than happy to sleep in.

Resolution #9: I'll stay off the counters, at least when company is around.

I only get on the counters if there is food around. My problem is going on the bookshelves and other places I'm not supposed to go and knocking things off. The massage therapist doesn't like it, but the Demon Cat doesn't like me being on the ground level, so I have to go up. I've got no choice in the matter if I want to preserve peace in the house.

Resolution #10: I'll be more tolerant of those homemade bandannas.

Uh no.

100% Naughty - Santa Certified

Well, friends, I guess it's time that I acted like a Mancat and fessed up and you knew the truth.

I was a VERY

NAUGHTY

little boy for Trismas.

First, I went where I wasn't supposed to go, trying to get at the feather toys that we're only allowed to play with under supervision.

Then I found an unattended bag of Zoom Around the Room(tm) catnip and ripped it opened and dumped it all of the floor. Then I face planted myself it in and got too nipped out to do my special Trismas concert.

Then, I got my butt beat for being such a bad boy and THEN I went back up where I wasn't supposed to go again (and knocked everything down on the floor including the massage therapists spare candles) and to make matters worse,

I did it right in front of the massage therapist after she told me not to do it.

Then I decided I was going to sleep in her bed and she was going to sleep on the couch and in the end...

I ended up sleeping in the corner in the kitchen with the Demon Cat standing guard over me.

And I got nothing but lumps of coal for Trismas and those aren't even fun to bat around.

Oh yeah, and I went outside and killed a lizard too, which I wasn't supposed to do on a day set aside for peace, love and understanding.

All I can say is though, if you've never face planted yourself in a mound of Zoom around the Room(tm) catnip, you should try it sometime.

That stuff is great!

Wow! Another week has gone by so quickly on Tabbylicious that I just can't believe it! It was a very exciting week too, as I got TWO yup count 'em TWO early holiday gifts!

First though it started out kind of scary, as I had to get through the Night of the Wild Hogs on Saturday night.

The Massage Therapist said that Spam is ham in a can, and the Demon Cat said that ham comes from pigs, and I heard on the TV that pigs and hogs are the same thing, so....

Is there where Spam comes from?

On Mancat Monday I talked about the importance of always being aware of your environment. Especially when food is involved.

Tabby Trismas Tuesday was went I treated you all to my next great Trismas hit! This one is sure to go platinum, let me tell you! But! Tuesday was also the day I got my first holiday purresent!

It was from the Massage Therapist (did I ever mention that I think she fancies me?) and it's my very own LUV NEST! Check it out on Cats on Tuesday!

I am one lucky mancat, let me tell you because I got that little LUV NEST, just in time because on Wordy Wednesday, my beautiful, sweet and fierce T'Abby Normal celebrated her very first Purrthday, shedding her kitten furs to transform into a BEAUTIFUL LADY CAT. Wow!

And boy...let me tell you. Was it some paw-ty! Wooohoooo!

I also got a "Lemonade Award" from my Buddy Vampy Victor, who said it's "a cause he has great attitude!"

Hey...Catitude is everything!

On Thankful Thursday I got my second purresent of the week, my furry own comfy, hand made Kitty Kwilt! And in green too, just my color.

And don't I look just stunning on it?

Friday we explored the legend of the notorious pirate Black Ceaser as we searched Marco Island for the buried treasure he's reported to have left behind on Mr. Tristan's Log.

Tomorrow is Solstice and I hear it's a very special time of year in our household. I hope you all have had a nice week and I hope you've all gotten lots of nice holiday purresents, like I have.

Today the Diamond Cutter has docked at Marco Island, which is the largest of Florida's Ten Thousand Islands located on the Gulf of Mexico in Southwest Florida.

Marco Island has been described as Magical, Mystical and Alluring. The attraction is tropical sun-washed white beaches and a casual easy paced life style. Sunshine, playful dolphins, Manatees, and all of the water and sun sports that go with the beaches are available for your pleasure.

But that's not why we're here. We're on a treasure hunt you see. A pirate known as Black Ceaser is is supposed to have buried between $2 and $6 million at several locations throughout the Caribbean including Pine Island, White Horse Key, Marco Island, Elliot Key and Sanibel Island, although none has ever been recovered.

Marco Island was discovered in the mid 1500s, when Spain was exploring most of Florida. The Spaniards stumbled upon a large island which contained two cool artisan springs located near what is now known as Caxambas Pass. The island became a favorite place to fill casks with fresh water for their return trip to Spain.

It eventually became known to all future sailors as La Isla de San Marco (the island of Saint Mark), named for Saint Mark, the Christian evangelist and traditional author of the second gospel in the bible. As the years went by, the site became known as San Marco Island (Saint Mark's island) and finally, just Marco Island.

Henri Caesar, also known as Black Caesar, was an 19th century Haitian revolutionary and pirate. He was a participant in the Haitian Revolution under Dutty Boukman and Toussaint Louverture as well as active in piracy for nearly a 30-year period during the early 19th century.

Black Caesar was born to a slave family kept by a French plantation owner known as Arnaut. He worked as a houseboy on the estate and, as a young man, worked in the lumberyard. He was apparently mistreated by the supervisor and later killed the man during the slave insurrection.

Joining the rebel forces led by Dutty Boukman and Toussaint Louverture, he remained with the revolution until its independence from France in 1804, when he left to try his luck at sea. Based in Port-de-Paix, he captured a Spanish ship in 1805 and soon began attacking small villages and lone vessels near Cuba and the Bahamas. Adopting the name Black Caesar, he was very successful during his piratical career before his disappearance in 1830.

Although his fate is unrecorded, he most likely fled the area after President Andrew Jackson ordered an expedition against pirates active on the Florida coast after its purchase by the United States in 1828. There is one story of his capture in west Florida and, taken to Key West, was allegedly tied to a tree and burned to death. The widow of a preacher, whose eyes had been burned out under torture from Black Caesar, is said to have been used to light the fire.

So as you see, we have our work cut out for us, exploring this island and trying to find Black Ceasar's treasure. But never fear, if anyone can find the booty that was left here, it will be us pirate cats, with our exceptional noses. We will be able to sniff it out, yes we will.

Thankful Thursday

I'm very thankful today that we have a good friends like Misty Whispurrs and her Meowmie, who was kind enough to send me my VERY OWN Kitty Kwilt! w00T!

As you can see, it's beautiful green colors match my coat just perfectly. It's also very comfy and is great, not only for naps, but for all sorts of activities, like grooming and munching down on a few snacks.

Misty Whispurrs over sees the Kwilt making at the Quilted Squirrel, which her Meowmie owns. They live in Michigan, by the Great Lake. (I have never been there, and I don't know what's so great about it, but that's what everyone else calls it.)

The Demon Cat has a Kitty Kwilt that I had slept on for a while, but she did not like sharing with me. Now I have my own Kwilt to sleep on!

I has it!

I am using the carpet to blend in with my coat pattern in the hopes that I will be mistaken for carpeting.

"Why?" you might ask. Well, it's not because the Demon Cat is after me again. She's ALWAYS after me. I'm kind of used to that.

No, it's because the Wild Hogs are out hunting again tonight, roaring up and down the streets, and frankly, they scare me.

Once a month they all come out to romp in downtown Cape Coral, growling and grunting and making just the most awful noises.

One actually live next door to me. I believe the Massage Therapist called it "Harley Davidson". I guess that is it's name, but then I have also heard her call other wild hogs the same thing. So maybe it's a breed, kind of like Tabby Cat is a breed.

Maybe you have some of these wild hogs in your neighborhood as well? This is what they look like:

Some of course are more fancier than others. But that's pretty much the basic look. Pretty odd looking creatures aren't they?

In any case, all that noise is frightening, even to a brave mancat like myself, and so I think I'm better off staying inside the pretending I'm a part of the carpeting.

I mean, who knows what they might eat?

Mr. Stinkypaws (& Caterday Roundup)

It seems my new nickname is Mr. Stinkypaws. Now I ask you...do I LOOK like a Mr. Stinkypaws?

I say I do not.

It seems I got this new nickname after making an exceptionally stinky mess in the litter however...

I HAD ASKED (politely, for I am nothing if not a gentleman-cat) to go outside so I could make this stinky mess in the back yard, but I was refused egress because "It's too cold outside."

So I resorted to the litter box.

Now I ask you...is this fair? I mean, I did the right thing, it's not MY fault I was not allowed outside to make the exceptional stinky mess in the backyard, is it?

Anyway...we did have a really fun week here at Tabbylicious. WE started out on Sunday when I hosted my first ever edition of Weekend Cat Blogging and boy..was that a blast! On Mancat Monday I showed off my laser eyes. I protect my house, as any good mancat should!

Tuesday as time for another edition of Tabby Tris-mas Tuesday as I sang for you my new single of my upcoming album "Sir Tristan's All Time Greatest Tris-mas Hits!" It's called Tabby Cat Rock and it's really catchy!

Wednesday was wordless, as I spent some time jammin' with my band. Yup, I'm a great vocalist, but I like to say down those guitar riffs too!

Thursday I did the Sixth Photo Me-me or should I say re-did - the first time we did it we got a hockey picture. This time is was more relevant as I got a picture of the Demon Cat.

And Friday the Diamond Cutter docked at beautiful Captiva Island and I shared some of the piratical history of the place in Mr. Tristan's Log.

There I am, lounging on the beach on beautiful Captiva Island. Believe me, the pirating life has it's perks sometime.

Captiva Island is located in Southwest Florida, located just offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. Originally part of neighboring Sanibel Island to the southeast, it was severed many years ago when a hurricane's storm surge washed away a new channel, called Blind Pass, which is now filling in and has been mostly filled in with sand.

Like Sanibel, it is a barrier island to Pine Island, which is to the East of Captiva and north of Sanibel.

North Captiva or Upper Captiva Island is another island that was separated form the main part of Captiva in the 1921 hurricane, creating Redfish Pass. It is privately owned and can only be access by boat or small plane.

Capitva has a rich pirate folklore. The pirate Captain Jose Gaspar (Gasparilla) used it as one of his main bases and kept his female prisoners on the island for ransom...or worse. (It's a really pretty spot, for the worse stuff!)

Sanibel Island is said to have been named by Gaspar's first mate, Roderigo Lopez, after his lover whom he had left back in Spain.

Gasparilla was a Spanish Pirate, the "last of the Buccaneers" who raided the west coast of Florida during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. His legend is celebrated every in in Tampa with the Gasparilla Pirate Festival.

The Gasparilla Pirate Festival has been celebrated every year since 1904, with only two lapses, and today, over 400,000 attend the event, which contributes over $20 million to the local economy. The Gasparilla Pirate Festival consists of three street parades, a children's parade, an adult day parade and an adults-only night parade. It should also be noted that many krewes raise money for charitable events throughout the year as well in addition to participation in the parades.

The Sixth Photo Me-me

My beautiful and fierce Miss T'Abby Normal (and the Stygian Panther) have tagged us for the Six Picture me-me.

We did this before, kind of, on Sunday as part of Weekend Cat Blogging, but I decided to do it over again. This time though I went not to the main picture folder, but to the Subfolder that the Massage Therapist keeps of the Demon Cat and I.

I kind of figured it would result in a picture of the Demon Cat, and I wasn't wrong, but it does have a story that involves me! Hah! so...

The way this works is:

Go to your picture folder on your computer, or wherever you store your pictures. Go to the sixth folder and then pick the sixth picture. Post it on your Bloggy and tell the story that goes with the picture . . .

Here is our pictures, which was posted on the Demon Cat's blog earlier this year.

The picture was taken on September 8th, and that was the day I was supposed to come to live in my new home with the Massage Therapist and the Demon Cat. However, Sunday night, I was meowling to be let out at the Davis' house, and when they let me out...well...I was a bad boy and went walk about.

So when Monday rolled around they couldn't find me anywhere and it was another week before I came to live in my new home.

So this is the Demon Cat wondering where her new brofur was (and probably happy that I decided to go walk about.)

Now, I'm supposed to tag six cats but my bud, Vampy Victor, took care of that by tagging the whole BlogOSphere. So...If you'd like to do this me-me, consider yourself tagged. It's actually a fun one, so hey...why not?

On a side note...You'll all be pleased to know I eviscerated a lizard last night and left it on the door step for the Massage Therapist. I don't know, but she didn't seem like...overjoyed to see it. And I killed it just for her too. Females...they're just so hard to understand sometimes, you know that? But then...where would we be without them?

Weekend Cat Blogging #183

It's SNOW!!! Yes SNOW!!! Right here in beautiful downtown Cape Coral! And just look at all of it:

And of course, given our nearly non-existent crime rate, the cities finest were out there in force along with the Fire Department and an EMS unit to make sure no one stole it. Or maybe slipped on it and got hurt.

Eventually however, they got bored, barricaded it up, and went off to find something more fun to do:

Oh, well...at least we don't have to worry that they'll be turning up 2-year-old dead bodies, 26 cats, 3 opossums and a raccoon all living in a foreclosed house around here.

There's snow in Michigan too, and Misty Whispurrs needs a new garage door opener so she can let the outside kitties into the garage. Now that's one smart girl!

Beau, the Southern Gentleman Cat, is Hosting a Mega-Auction to raise money for Criz, Moki, Misty, Billy and Beau, and there are some really great things, like a Cory CX-CD109 Personal CD Player. You'll really want that for when my new album is released, so you can listed to it over and over and over (and over and over) again!

Part of the money raised at the auction will be going to by Moki some thermal winter wear, as he was caught playing out in the snow along with a dozen other cats:

No wonder the cat warming pile as been doing double duty of late!

Of course, winter is not always a pleasant time of year for animals and it's wise to know about the symptoms of frostbite and how to treat it.

It's never gets quite that cold here in sunny Cape Coral, but how do I convince the Message Therapist of this?

Rocky and the cat crew of Artsy Catsy are also holding a very important auction, this one for Billy Sweetfeets. DMK has also donated two snuggles to be raffled off to benefit the crew at Meezer Tails in these economically troubled times.

The Capt'n said we could decorate for the Holidays as long as it didn't interfere with our duties. As my duties involve swabbing the deck, I think I'm okay there. I just need to clean up the pine needles the little tree sheds. She says every day could be like Christmas on the Diamond Cutter if we just heave to when we need to to run down merchant ships.

She may be the best Pirate Lord out there, but she certainly never cuts the crew any slack. She's banned all alcoholic beverages from the ship. Now how am I supposed to get into the Holiday spirit if I can't be drinkin' any of it?

Hey...come on in! I've got the games on all day and we've got Turkey Sandwiches, cold beer, and Party Mix! Check out my high tech flat screen TV!

Need I say it would be a HUGE upset for the 0-11 Lions to beat the 10-1 Titans? Still, I have to meyowl for the pussycats, if only because of the undercat factor.

Dallas 7-4 has the edge in this game over the 2-9 Seahawks, as long as they play smart and don't make any really stupid mistakes. During this game we will be serving Seahawks sandwiches instead of the the tradition turkey sandwich. We also have a variety of fish flavored treats to help us support the 'boys.

Arizona has a chance of beating the Eagle, but Philly is a respectable 5-5 in a the tough NFC-EAst. This is probably the best match of the day. The Cards are 7-4 in the NFC West, but given the other teams in their division, that's not necessarily a recommendation. However, after the Phillies defeated my Rays I cannot possibly meyowl for ANY team from Philly, so...

Did you know that Tabby Cats are striped, with a variety of patterns?

The classic "blotched" tabby (or known as "marbled") pattern is the most common and consists of butterflies and bulls eyes.

The "striped" or "mackerel" tabby cat is a series of vertical stripes down the cat's side (resembling the fish). This pattern, which is broken into spots, is referred to as a "spotted" tabby. I am striped tabby, as you can see from my markings in the picture above!

The tabby markings may also look like a series of ticks on the fur, thus the "ticked" tabby, which is almost exclusively associated with the Abyssinian cat.
